How long have you been a member at Vie Athletics?
I have been a member at Vie for 1.5 years. I started when Bonney Lake opened. I started after being away from the gym for many years. I was in the last months of grad school and had found myself 50 lbs overweight and very unhappy with where I was at. I heard about Vie on Facebook and my cousin who attended Puyallup. I was very hesitant and nervous to start since I was so out of shape and was away from the gym for so long. I was always in shape and athletic growing up, but after getting married, having a son and grad school, I found myself feeling too busy to spend time on myself. I gave it a try and immediately fell in love. I was able to change my nutrition and stick to a workout plan and have gotten myself to a point where I have lost the extra weight, stronger than I have been in years and a place where I was happy with myself again.
What do you think about while you work out?
When I am working out, I am always thinking about how I can push myself more. I try to come with a clear mind and only think about what I have to get done in the hour that I am at Vie.
What is your gym necessity?
My Starbucks cold cup, my pre-workout, my favorite workout clothes are Lululemon and shoes Nike Metcons or Epic Reacts. At home I have a foot roller that I feel is a gym necessity too, I love to freeze it and it feels so good on sore feet.
What is your best piece of advice for other Vie Girls?
Never compare yourself to others. We are each at different places in our fitness journey. Always keep yourself accountable and push yourself when you can (you will surprise yourself with what you are capable of).
What motivates you to show up for class?
The progress that I have been able to see since starting at Vie. I am always looking for new ways to challenge myself.
How has Vie impacted your life?
I am healthier and in better shape than I have been in years. I love the relationships that I have built with the coaches and the other women that I work out with. I have never been very good at getting “me time” but Vie athletics has become that for me.
